Almost every LED video wall enquiry we receive asks the same nine things: what the screen accepts on the input side, how large a cabinet is, how much power the wall draws, how many cables are involved, and which pixel pitch is needed for 2K or 4K. Most of that is not on the brochure, so buyers end up asking three different suppliers and getting three different answers.
This article answers all nine in one place, using our 108", 136" and 163" COB P1.25 walls as the worked example. Everything below is the standard configuration — the final specification always follows the project configuration sheet confirmed by both parties, together with your on-site power conditions.
The sending card also carries an IR probe for brightness and colour temperature, an ambient light sensor for automatic brightness, a relay port and a LAN cascade port. If your project needs a matrix switcher or a dedicated video wall processor, say so early — it changes how the controller is specified.
One cabinet is 600 × 337.5 mm at 16:9, built from eight 150 × 168.75 mm modules (four across, two down). The cabinets splice seamlessly, so display area is simply array count × cabinet size.
| Size | Cabinets | Array | Display area W × H | Area | Native resolution @P1.25 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 108" | 16 | 4 × 4 | 2400 × 1350 mm (94" × 53") | 3.24 m² | 1920 × 1080 (2K) |
| 136" | 25 | 5 × 5 | 3000 × 1687.5 mm (118" × 66") | 5.06 m² | 2400 × 1350 |
| 163" | 36 | 6 × 6 | 3600 × 2025 mm (142" × 80") | 7.29 m² | 2880 × 1620 |
Practical note: when your wall opening is fixed, work backwards from the opening rather than from the inch size in the brochure. We will give you the cabinet array that fills it — and that number decides the final diagonal, not the other way round. The same logic applies to our COB LED all-in-one displays when they are customised for a room.
| Component | Model / specification |
|---|---|
| Cabinet | 600 × 337.5 mm, 16:9, seamless splice, 8 modules per cabinet |
| Receiving card | V7520 two-in-one; 20 HUB75 ports / 40 groups RGB data; max load 960 × 540; HDMI 1.4 in + HDMI cascade out; USB-C control; 7680 Hz refresh |
| HUB adapter | T750QVR01.A — 8 HUB75 panel ports, one per module in this cabinet |
| 4K adapter | C2-HUB — 4K signal distribution and cabinet cascade |
| Power supply | LPU200S3.8N6P-DA, one per cabinet |
| LED modules | COB P1.25, common anode or common cathode, 8 per cabinet |
Input AC 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz (wide range); output DC 3.8 V, 30–40 A (114–152 W); one power supply per cabinet, two for high-brightness common-anode builds. Actual draw per cabinet is 70–110 W peak and roughly 37 W average — the power supply rating is a ceiling, not the running load.
| Size | Cabinets | Peak power | Peak current @220V | Average power | Breaker ≥ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 108" | 16 | 1.12 – 1.76 kW | 5.1 – 8.0 A | 0.37 – 0.59 kW | 10.4 A |
| 136" | 25 | 1.75 – 2.75 kW | 8.0 – 12.5 A | 0.58 – 0.92 kW | 16.2 A |
| 163" | 36 | 2.52 – 3.96 kW | 11.5 – 18.0 A | 0.84 – 1.32 kW | 23.4 A |
Basis: COB P1.25 draws about 350–550 W/m² at peak (0.2025 m² per cabinet) and averages about one third of peak. Reserve roughly 100 W for the media player or controller, and size the main breaker at peak × 1.3. For a brighter wall, see the pitch and package comparison below — high-brightness builds draw materially more.
Eleven cables travel inside every cabinet: eight HUB75 ribbons (one per module), one AC power cable, one power distribution cable and one signal cable. Between cabinets, signal runs in and out over one network cable each way, daisy-chained from the controller through cabinet 1, 2 and onwards, with a single segment no longer than 40 m. Power also runs in and out, one cable each way, on the same circuit.
| Size | Network links | Power links | Modules |
|---|---|---|---|
| 108" (16 cabinets) | 16 segments (cables ≈ cabinets + 1) | 16 segments | 128 |
| 136" (25 cabinets) | 25 segments | 25 segments | 200 |
| 163" (36 cabinets) | 36 segments | 36 segments | 288 |
That is the whole architecture. Most installation problems we are asked about come from one of these three links being stretched: a signal segment over 40 m, a power circuit shared with other equipment, or a ribbon reseated the wrong way up.
| Package | Pitch | Polarity | Max brightness (nits) | Contrast | Viewing angle | Protection |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| COB | P0.9 / P1.25 | Anode / Cathode | 600–1000 (1500–3000 custom) | ≥ 20,000:1 | ≥ 170° | IP65 optional |
| COB | P1.5 | Anode / Cathode | 800–1200 (1500–3000 custom) | ≥ 20,000:1 | ≥ 170° | IP65 optional |
| GOB | P0.9 / P1.25 | Anode | 700–1200 | ≥ 10,000:1 | ≥ 160° | IP54 potted |
| GOB | P1.5 | Anode | 800–1200 | ≥ 10,000:1 | ≥ 160° | IP54 potted |
| SMD | P0.9 | Anode | 800–1200 | ≈ 5,000:1 | 140° / 120° | None |
| SMD | P1.25 | Anode | 1000–1200 indoor; 2500+ high brightness | ≈ 5,000:1 | 140° / 120° | None |
| SMD | P1.5 | Anode | 1000–1200; 2500–4000 high brightness | ≈ 5,000:1 | 140° / 120° | None |
Three things this table says. At the same pitch, brightness ranks SMD ≈ GOB > COB: COB gives up a little brightness but wins on contrast, protection and the way it looks at close range. 600–1200 nits is enough for normal indoor rooms; for shop windows or direct sunlight, plan on 2500 nits or more, which means high-brightness SMD or custom high-brightness COB. Our standard supply is COB P1.25, common anode or common cathode, 7680 Hz, with 2K and 4K pixel-to-pixel splicing, and brightness can be customised per project. For a deeper package-level comparison see our COB vs SMD LED display comparison.
| Target resolution | 108" (2400 mm) | 136" (3000 mm) | 163" (3600 mm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2K 1920 × 1080 | P1.25 mm | P1.5625 mm | P1.875 mm |
| 4K 3840 × 2160 | P0.625 mm | P0.78125 mm | P0.9375 mm |
Read the table in the other direction when you specify: true 4K on a 3.6 m wide wall needs sub-millimetre pitch, so 4K at 163" costs materially more than 2K. For presentations, signage and meeting content, 2K at these sizes is what most rooms actually run.
| Size | Peak current | With 1.3 margin | Recommended AC main / cabinet power cable |
|---|---|---|---|
| 108" | 8.0 A | 10.4 A | 1.5 – 2.5 mm² |
| 136" | 12.5 A | 16.2 A | 2.5 – 4 mm² |
| 163" | 18.0 A | 23.4 A | 4 – 6 mm² |
On the DC side, power supply to modules, each cabinet draws 30–40 A, so use ≥ 6 mm² flexible copper on a short run (supplied with the cabinet). Signal cable is CAT5e or CAT6, single segment no longer than 40 m. If you are still at the planning stage, our 136-inch COB P1.25 installation walkthrough shows the same cabling in a real school project.
Every figure above is our standard configuration. If you are comparing suppliers, ask each of them for these same nine items in writing — the answers show quickly whether you are being quoted a project or a datasheet. Cabinet-level detail for OEM and own-brand builds is on our LED display OEM page and LED OEM solution page; full specification sheets for the 108", 136" and 163" models are on the product specifications page.
Send us the wall opening, the viewing distance and the ambient light, and we will come back with the cabinet array, the pixel pitch, the total power and the breaker size for your site — before any commercial discussion. We supply cabinets, modules and complete walls, factory direct, for integrators and own-brand projects.
