Touch Calibration Not Working? How to Fix Touch Misalignment on an Interactive Panel

Short answer: a touch offset after a Windows reinstall, a driver update or a resolution change is almost always a calibration issue, not a hardware fault. Reinstall the touch driver, run the calibration tool at the panel's native resolution, and check that the touch cable is on the panel's own USB touch port. That fixes the vast majority of cases in under 20 minutes.

This guide covers the four situations we are asked about most: touch off by a few centimetres, touch working in Android but not in Windows, touch drifting only in one corner, and multi-touch that registers fewer points than expected. 1. First, decide which side is wrong: Android or Windows

Open the panel's built-in whiteboard app in Android mode and draw. Then switch to the Windows PC or OPS module and draw in the same app.

• Wrong in both — the panel side needs calibration (step 3).
• Right in Android, wrong in Windows — the PC side is missing the touch driver or is using the wrong input device (step 2).
• Right everywhere except one corner — usually a stretched resolution or a zoomed desktop (step 4).

2. Check the cables and the driver on the PC side

1. The touch signal travels on a USB cable that goes from the panel to the PC — not on HDMI. Plug it into the panel's own USB touch port, not into a USB hub and not into a charging port.
2. On the PC, open Device Manager and look under Human Interface Devices and USB devices for an unknown or disabled device. An exclamation mark means the driver did not load.
3. Install the Windows touch driver and the whiteboard software from the Firmware Center, then reboot.
4. If you upgraded the board firmware recently, install the matching driver version — a mismatch between board firmware and PC driver is a common cause of "touch works but is shifted".

3. Run the calibration tool (do it at native resolution)

1. Set the panel's resolution to its native value — for a 4K panel that is 3840×2160, not 1920×1080.
2. Set the display scaling to 100%, so Windows does not interpolate the touch coordinates.
3. Open the calibration tool and follow the touch points. Touch each target with the tip of a finger or a stylus, straight on, and hold for a moment. Do all the points in one pass.
4. Click Save / Apply, then reboot the PC before testing — some drivers only load the new map at start-up.

Calibration is stored per PC and per resolution. If you replace the OPS module, change from 1080p to 4K, or reinstall Windows, run it again.

4. Multi-monitor and "extended desktop" traps

• If the PC drives two screens in extended mode, touch may be mapped to the other monitor. Set the panel as the main display, or use duplicate/second-screen-only mode.
• Keep the taskbar and the whole desktop inside the panel's screen area; a desktop that extends past the panel edge shifts every touch coordinate.
• Do not use zoom or a custom aspect ratio in the graphics driver control panel — use the panel's native aspect.

5. Multi-touch: fewer points than expected

• Check that the app you are testing actually supports multi-touch — many Windows annotation programs only accept two points.
• 20-point touch requires both the board firmware and the PC driver to support it. Update both from the Firmware Center, then re-calibrate.
• Test with the panel's built-in whiteboard first: if it registers 20 points there, the panel is fine.

6. When it is not calibration: what to send us

If the offset is identical before and after calibration, in both Android and Windows, the cause is usually the touch frame or the USB touch port. Send us three things and we will diagnose from the photo:

1. Model code and serial number (SN) from the label on the back of the panel.
2. The build number under Settings → About device.
3. A photo of the touch test: draw a diagonal cross and write your name in each corner.
